Seatrade Awards Success
Leading data capture specialist, Datatrac Ltd, last night won the prestigious Seatrade Award for New IT Applications for the Shipping Industry, sponsored by Inmarsat.
The Seatrade Awards promote improvements in maritime standards and reward
those whose products help save lives and protect the environment.
Datatrac’s success in winning the Award for New IT Application for the Shipping Industry is recognition by the industry as being genuine innovators and acknowledges that Datatrac systems perform the tasks required of them.
Proud founder and director, Jennefer Tobin was presented with the Award in the magnificent surroundings of London ’s Guildhall by the Guest of Honour, Admiral Sir Alan West, GCB, DSC, ADC, First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff.
A thrilled Ms Tobin said: “Datatrac wishes to thank Seatrade for creating the Awards, which benchmarks and judges us to provide a platform to test our ideas as an innovator.
“It is a great complement to have been selected
by such a distinguished panel of judges for such a prestigious Award, and
recognises the hard innovative work put in by all involved with Datatrac.”
Ms Tobin continued: “This acknowledgement that Datatrac systems actually improve operational safety and efficiency will drive our development efforts into solving many more of the shipping industry’s data capture and management problems.”
Chairman of the judges, IMO Secretary-General, Efthimios Mitropoulos praised the quality of technical development by the shipping industry, which was showcased by the Seatrade Awards. He said: “The excellence of the innovation and quality represented this evening is worthy of being appreciated.”
Datatrac has successfully demonstrated technology capable of collecting data and presenting evidence that the procedures and tasks deemed to be best operating practice to fulfil legal requirements to safely manage a vessel have been carried out with data collected automatically as part of the task.
The company has also established other applications. Securitrac, is used to record all the requirements under the ISPS Code, while Assetrac, collects data in Engine Spaces using a fail-safe process for accurately capturing performance data.
Surveytrac, which frees surveyors from typing because they use only a pen, consequently can auto-generate reports, to client specification with the added feature of photographs embedded in the text of the report.
